Glavni organizator tega mitinga z močno tradicijo,  je Atletski klub Velenje, ki slovi kot prizadeven organizator atletskih prireditev na mednarodni ravni. Med njimi so najodmevnejše  dvakratna organizacija prve lige evropskega ekipnega pokala, dvakratna organizacija SPAR Evropskega prvenstva v krosu in mednarodni European Athletics Classic atletski miting.

Miting vsako leto pritegne množice atletskih navdušencev, ki napolnijo stadion z med 2000 in 3000 gledalcev. Je tudi medijsko najodmevnejša atletska prireditev v Sloveniji, bogati pa ga predvsem udeležba najboljših slovenskih atletov ter številnih tujih zvezdnikov.

V Velenju se v zanimivih atletskih disciplinah letno pomeri več kot 200 atletinj in atletov iz več kot 25 držav. Poleg izjemno močne tuje konkurence miting krasi udeležba najboljših atletov iz Slovenije.

5. junija 2013 se je velenjski atletski miting uvrstil na 13. mesto med vsemi atletskimi mitingi na svetu v letu 2013 po kakovosti udeležbe. To potrjuje, da so rezultati enakovredni dosežkom na največjih svetovnih atletskih mitingih.

The main organiser of the competition, is the local club, Athletic Club Velenje. The club has a well-deserved reputation as being a highly-zealous organiser of international athletic competitions.

Among the high-profiled competitions are a two-time organisation of the first league of the European Team Championship, a two-time organisation of the SPAR Cross Country Championship and the annual international European Athletics meeting.

Meeting each year attracts a vast audience in between 2.000 and 3.000 spectators.

Speaking in media terms it is the media coverage, it is the meeting with the most reach in Slovenia and appearance of the best Slovenian and many foreign athletes is what makes it rich in content.

Each year over 200 athletes from over 25 different countries compete in Velenje. There is a strong presence of foreign athletes, but what makes it exquisite is the amount of Slovenian talent it presents.

On June 5th 2013 the Velenje meeting was placed 13th in the world among the competitions of the same characteristic based on the quality of participating athletes. This only shows further proof that the competition is a worthy opponent to the other worldly athletic meetings.
